|
|
Woke up this morning and got the shock of my life - My site has completely reset itself over night back to the "Welcome to php-nuke" screen where you set up a superuser etc....
I have no idea whats happened as I didnt change a thing since i was last on the site and nobody else has the right passwords etc..
Does anybody know what could have happened? My nuke tables are all the same and the log doesnt show much? It appeares that my modules are still there but the menus, blocks etc have reset themselves and the worst news is my content has all disappeared! (Spent about 10 on the site 2 days ago and havent backed up since)
I have no idea what to do now?
I WAS using 6.8 - Do you think i was hacked? |

| Maybe you used nukesql.php to install the tables and forgot to delete it once done as the instructions state. |

| Check your server's access logs to see if any odd url is listed at the time of the database loss, did you make any changes the last time the site was ok? Like add something, upgrade, etc... If you have checked the database tables and you are sure data is missing just delete the tables and load the last database backup you have, last ftp to the server and check the dates on the files, if any file has a recent date and you feel you did not make any changes to it on that date, delete it and replace it with a new one, while you're at it make sure chmod settings are 755 for folders & 644 for files. Good luck. |

I hope you don't leave any files at your servere that are required to install phpNuke.
That is the only explanation I can think of, otherwise, who would go through the trouble to get the 'Welcome to PHP Nuke' page back as the first screen.
If you left install, yes, somebody might give it a go to upset you. |

Yepp thought as much...You boys were right!!! I had left the nukesql.php file in public dir and i guess someone picked up on it!! (Sorry chatserv as i told you that wasnt it) But you were right as always.
Dont know how someone found it or why they looked in the first place but my stupidity to leave it there!!!
Good news is that because of this i gave my site a new look and the change is welcomed!
If anyone is reading this post because the same thing happened to them then your as stupid as i was for leaving the file there in the first place!! |

| That is why i state that it must be deleted in the readme file and on messages printed on the screen when it is run, for future versions i guess i'll make it password protected for those that forget deleting it. |
